On November 6, the Press Conference of the 2020 World Intelligent Manufacturing Conference (WIMC) was held in Beijing. At the press conference, Miao Changxing, a Level I inspector of No.1 Division of Equipment Industry, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, released the overall situation, features and highlights of the 2020 WIMC. Zhang Lefu, Secretary General of the Organizing Committee of the 2020 WIMC and Deputy Secretary General of Jiangsu Provincial People's Government, introduced the preparations for the 2020 WIMC. Nearly 50 people attended the press conference, including leaders like Li Qingshan, Deputy Director of the General Office of the Chinese Academy of Engineering; Lin Runhua, Deputy Director of the Academic Department of China Association for Science and Technology; Bao Hongxin, Deputy Secretary-General of the Nanjing Municipal People's Government as well as journalists from central, provincial and municipal media.
Intelligent manufacturing, as an important driving force of a new round of scientific and technological revolution and industrial transformation, is the main approach to promote the high-quality development of the manufacturing industry. In this year's overall epidemic prevention and control and economic and social development, intelligent manufacturing has played an important role in resuming production, unblocking industrial chains, stabilizing supply chains, and enhancing industrial competitiveness. In order to promote the high-quality development of the real economy and deepen international cooperation and exchange in intelligent manufacturing, the State Council approved the 2020 WIMC, which will be co-hosted by the Jiangsu Provincial People's Government, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, the Chinese Academy of Engineering and the China Association for Science and Technology at Nanjing International Expo Conference Center from November 26 to 28, 2020.
The 2020 WIMC will thoroughly implement the spirit of the Fifth Plenary Session of the 19th CPC Central Committee, focus on speeding up the construction of a new development pattern with the domestic cycle as the main body and the mutual promotion of domestic and international double-cycle as a complement, and strengthening the upgrade of industrial basis and the modernization of industrial chains to help transform China into a major player in manufacturing, cyber power, and high- quality production. The 2020 WIMC is themed "Intelligent Manufacturing Leads Development". Its key events such as the Launch Ceremony, Closing Ceremonies, Main Forum, Sub-forums and the Carnival will be held online and offline synchronously. A Cloud Expo will also unveil during the conference. The 2020 WIMC will highlight the following features:
First, both domestic and overseas guests are invited to make the event more international. A group of domestic and foreign senior officials, academicians and entrepreneurs as well as heads of international well-known institutions, heads of Global 500 enterprises and other guests will be invited to discuss future trends jointly, issue authoritative reports, and share the latest achievements to create a large-scale, high-level and well-informed top pageant in the global intelligent manufacturing field. At present, 59 key guests have been preliminarily identified, including 13 representatives of international organizations, 33 academicians at home and abroad, and 13 representatives of Global 500. The levels of internationalization and professionalization are further improved.
Second, the Main Forum and Sub-forums are combined to make the event more professional. The Launch Ceremony and Main Forum will bring together the latest achievements, leading technologies and high-end products in the field of global intelligent manufacturing; authorities will publish a number of achievements, policies, reports on cutting-edge technology, etc. Solutions and application cases of digital manufacturing, networked manufacturing, and intelligent manufacturing will be displayed in a multi-dimensional way. The sub-forums will focus on integrating sci-tech and industry to set up four modules: comprehensive progress and demonstration applications, key technologies, industrial applications, and social ecology. Domestic and foreign intelligent manufacturing scientists and scholars will be extensively invited to specially discuss development paths of intelligent manufacturing, future life shaped by intelligent manufacturing and other contents, thus stirring a brainstorm about intelligent manufacturing.
Third, online and offline activities are combined to make the event more interactive. In strict accordance with the requirements about normal prevention and control of the epidemic situation, the 2020 WIMC will adopt the mode of “online-based, online-offline combined” and broadcast live online to present the grand event from all dimensions. By establishing a Cloud Expo and holding the WIMC Industrial Brands Festival, it aims to attract attendees with professional knowledge to interact, thus achieving all-round, multi-level, high-efficiency and three-dimensional promotion.
Fourth, building a platform and promoting cooperation are combined to achieve better long-term effects. Through the Cloud Expo, the 2020 WIMC will display intelligent manufacturing's ecological systems, which involves the enterprises, products, talent, capital, technical achievements, and application scenarios in an all-dimensional way. Meanwhile, it will also offer targeted supply-demand bridging, business negotiation and other functions to help enterprises realize further exchange and cooperation. The Cloud Expo will be launched in mid-November. Altogether 5 exhibition areas, namely the intelligent manufacturing solutions, demonstration applications, equipment and public service platform, talent exchange, and financial docking, are set up, and opened to the public in the long term to create a never-ending "Cloud Expo".
Since 2016, WIMC has been consecutively held in Jiangsu for four years. The 2020 WIMC will continue the tradition of the previous conferences and strive to create an international platform based in China and facing the world that fully demonstrates and exchanges the latest achievements, latest technologies, latest models and latest trends of global intelligent manufacturing.
