The 2020 World Intelligent Manufacturing Conference (WIMC) was inaugurated in Nanjing on the morning of November 26. Focusing on the latest news and cutting-edge technologies in global intelligent manufacturing, the Opening Ceremony of the WIMC explored new prospects for intelligent manufacturing, fostered new driving forces of economic development, and guided the new development of global industries. Wu Zhenglong, Governor from Jiangsu Provincial People's Government, Xin Guobin, Deputy Minister of Industry and Information Technology, Zhou Ji, Honorary President of the Presidium and Academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering (CAE), Xu Yanhao, Deputy Secretary of Leading CPC Group, Vice Chairman, and Secretary of the Secretariat of China Association for Science and Technology, Zhang Jinghua, Member of the Standing Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Jiangsu Provincial Committee and Secretary of the CPC Nanjing Municipal Committee, Ma Qiulin, Vice Governor from Jiangsu Provincial People's Government, and Han Liming, Mayor from Nanjing Municipal People's Government attended and jointly initiated the Opening Ceremony of the 2020 World Intelligent Manufacturing Conference.At the Opening Ceremony, the List of the Third Batch of Benchmarking Enterprises in Intelligent Manufacturing Industry, the "2020 World 10 Scientific & Technological Developments in Intelligent Manufacturing", and the "2020 China 10 Scientific and Technological Developments in Intelligent Manufacturing" were also released.
The 2020 WIMC has deeply implemented the guiding principles of the 5th Plenary Session of the 19th National Congress of the Communist Party of China (CPC) and the important instructions made by General Secretary Xi Jinping at the symposium on promoting the development of the Yangtze River Economic Belt in all aspects, steadily advanced the high-quality development of the real economy, actively pushed the profound integration of the digital economy and the real economy, and strengthened the international cooperation and communication in intelligent manufacturing. Centering on stepping up to build the new development paradigm with domestic circulation as the mainstay and domestic and international circulations reinforcing each other, the WIMC gives impetus to upgrading the industrial base and modernizing the industrial chain and facilitates China to develop into a strong power in manufacturing, network, and quality.Built on the theme of "Intelligent Manufacturing Leads High Quality Development", the 2020 WIMC was held in an online-offline manner, including its major activities such as the opening and closing ceremonies, theme forum, parallel forums, and carnival, and a Cloud Expo was also held, aiming to empower the physical expo with high technologies and help intelligent manufacturing march toward a brighter future.
Han Liming, Mayor of Nanjing from Nanjing Municipal People's Government, Yuan Jie, Chairman and Secretary of the Leading CPC Group of China Aerospace Science and Industry Corporation, Cao Dewang, Chairman and Founder of Fuyao Glass Industry Group Co., Ltd., and Zhang Jindong, Vice Chairman of All-China Federation of Industry and Commerce and Chairman of Suning Holdings Group delivered keynote speeches.
Mr. Bernard, Executive Officer of Directorate of Digitalization, Technology, and Agri-Business at the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) delivered the opening speech through video due to the pandemic impact.Henning Kagermann, a foreign academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering (CAE) and former President of National Academy of Science and Engineering (acatech) of Germany, and Philippe Bartissol, global President of Dassault Systèmes gave keynote speeches through video.
At the Opening Ceremony, the Intelligent Manufacturing Alliance of CAST Member Societies (IMAC) and China Intelligent Manufacturing System Integrator Consortium (CIMSIC) released the 2020 World 10 Scientific and Technological Developments in Intelligent Manufacturing and China 10 Scientific and Technological Developments in Intelligent Manufacturing (hereinafter referred to as the "Double Top Ten" release). The 2020 China Intelligent Manufacturing Benchmarking Enterprises will display solutions to the digital, internet-based, and intelligent development of manufacturing and application examples in a multi-dimensional way.
Unlike previous sessions, the 2020 WIMC was mainly held through the online cloud expo platform due to the COVID-19. The WIMC Industrial Brands Festival was held during the same period.The Cloud Expo has empowered the cloud WIMC through new high technologies, such as artificial intelligence, digital economy, big data, cloud computing, and VR/AR; established a platform providing such services as an online digital exhibition hall, live streaming, and connection; conducted several activities like cloud conference, cloud negotiation, cloud live streaming, and cloud management, showing the audience intelligent manufacturing technologies and products, creating new participation experience, and allowing the audience to feel the charm of intelligent manufacturing at zero distance. By dint of the platform's technological superiority, the Industrial Brands Festival has built a cloud-based purchasing platform that creates a new pattern of display and trading and provides more trading opportunities and driving forces of sustainable development for intelligent manufacturing enterprises by building an accurate supply-demand matchmaking mechanism.
